Bruce is the Deputy Chair of Aphasia WA and lives with aphasia after his stroke in 2015. A Chartered Accountant with his own business, a family and a passion for life, Bruce shares a beautiful story of survival, revival and thriving.

He gives insight into what it takes to live everyday with aphasia and dyspraxia, to have had his whole world changed in an instant. He will talk about strength, resilience, faith in life, in his family and the will to survive and regrow and flourish as a new him. With nine years’ experience as a person with aphasia, he gives us his secrets on advocating for aphasia awareness and living the best ‘him’ every day.

Bruce will share his thoughts on what healthcare professionals need to know about working with people who experience stroke and aphasia across the recovery continuum and how to include people with communication challenges in research and co-design to improve stroke care and research.
